National Service Project Packages 525,960 Meals for Haiti

Kansas City, Missouri – [June 20, 2010]

Members of the National Forensic League (NFL) made impressive strides in the fight against world hunger on June 13 as part of the NFL’s first-ever national service project. Working together to assemble basic ingredients including rice, soy, freeze-dried nuts and vitamins, students packaged 525,960 meals to be sent to Haiti.

For the project, the NFL partnered with Numana, Inc., an international hunger relief organization with the mission of empowering people to save the starving. Over 5,000 tournament attendees from across the nation worked together to prepare meals to be shipped to Haiti as part of ongoing earthquake relief efforts.

In recognition of our members’ valuable efforts, the NFL awarded NFL service points and several Lincoln Financial Group scholarships randomly drawn from NFL student participants who contribute at least one hour of service.
